Mr Ahmed Zayan Mohamed

Economist, UNDP Maldives

Ahmed Zayan Mohamed currently serves as the Economist at the United Nations Development Programme, Maldives Country Office. Prior to this role, he led the Fiscal Affairs Department at the Ministry of Finance and Planning, where he was responsible for revenue and expenditure policy, public investment management, and budget formulation and execution. He also worked at the Ministry as a consultant on both the World Bank and the USAID’s public financial management projects. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Maldives Monetary Authority’s Monetary Policy and Research Department, where he headed the Modelling and Forecasting Section. He later served as a member of the board of directors of the Maldives Monetary Authority. 

Zayan holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Warwick and a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
