Badhurudheen Hassan, recently appointed as the Managing Director of SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC), is a Chartered Banker with over 13 years of progressive leadership experience in the banking sector, having held several strategic roles previously at Bank of Maldives. 

He joined the Bank of Maldives in 2012 and held several key positions, including Retail Business Development Manager, Senior Manager of Retail Banking, Head of Retail, Cards & Digital Banking, and most recently, Director of Retail & SME Banking. 

Throughout his career, Mr. Badhurudheen has played a pivotal role in driving customer-focused innovations, digitalization and automation of processes, expanding access to financial services, and leading high-performing teams to deliver strategic business growth. 

Notable initiatives under his leadership include the transformation of branch operations from transaction-focused branches to sales-driven high performing teams, automation of core processes, introduction of digital onboarding, and automated loan approvals. 

In recognition of his exceptional performance, Badhurudheen was awarded the CEO’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2022 and named Employee of the Year in 2016.  

Badhurudheen holds the qualification of Chartered Banker in addition to Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business & Commerce specializing in Accounting, Banking & Finance.
