Ministry of Economic Development and Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. The signing ceremony took place at Auditor General’s Office and in the presence of major State-Owned Enterprises (SOE).
The MoU will create a pathway to address the skill gaps in accounting profession and ways to collaborate on providing trainings and conducting awareness programs in the profession. It will also create a path to explore ways to facilitate opportunities for accounting students and those working in the accounting profession to seek opportunities.
During the event, Minister Uz. Fayyaz Ismail emphasized that the government gives significant importance to developing the accountancy profession. In alignment to this, opportunities to study professional and technical level courses shall be announced very soon.
The President of CA Maldives, Auditor General, Mr. Hussain Niyazy thanked the key stakeholders of the Institute and the importance of continuing to work closely with such key stakeholders. Furthermore, He also highlighted on the ongoing works being done by the Institute in order to improve the quality of the accountancy field.
