CA Maldives hosted the 80th Board Meeting of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) at Villa Nautica, Paradise Island Resort, Maldives, on August 21st, 2023. During the meeting, CA Maldives was awarded full SAFA membership status, becoming the 10th full member of SAFA.
In the opening remarks of the SAFA Board Meeting, Auditor General and President of CA Maldives, Mr. Hussain Niyazy noted that the “21st Century belongs to Asia.” To realize the maximum benefits, SAFA needs to embrace three key elements: strategies for inclusivity and empowerment of youth and women in the accounting profession, as well as embracing technology and digitization in the profession.
Highlighting the success of SAFA events in the Maldives, SAFA president CA Nihar N. Jambusaria noted that this was the first time where 11 out of 15 committee meetings met in person to discuss important agenda items.
