Dr. Ahmed Shahid is a freelance consultant who specializes in human rights, public policy and governance, and leadership. He has more than 30 years of professional experience in diverse careers including teaching, educational management, trade policy, commercial diplomacy, human rights and research. He has worked for the Maldives government, independent state institutions and the private sector. Dr. Shahid has completed multiple consultancy projects in Maldives and several countries in Asia-Pacific, Africa and Europe, for clients including the government of Maldives, various UN agencies and several international organisations.

Dr. Shahid holds a PhD from the University of Sydney (Australia); Master of Arts International Development, Public Policy and Management from the University of Manchester (UK) and Bachelor of Arts Economics and Management from the University of South Pacific (Fiji). In addition, he also holds a Graduate Diploma in International Law from the University of Sydney (Australia); Diploma in Trade Policy from the National University of Singapore (Singapore).
