Ms. Fathimath Ameeza is the Commissioner General of Taxation at Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), leading the overall operations of MIRA in administering the tax system of the Maldives. Prior to her appointment as Commissioner General in 2026, she served as Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation from 2024, overseeing key operational and corporate functions including audit, human resources, administration and finance, while contributing to tax policy reform, compliance strategies, institutional governance, and stakeholder engagement across national and international levels.

With over two decades of public sector experience, Ms. Ameeza has played a key role in the development of tax administration in the Maldives. She began her career in the Department of Inland Revenue under the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, which later transitioned into MIRA. Following the establishment of MIRA in 2010, she joined the Authority as a senior management staff member and went on to hold several key leadership positions, including Director, Director General, and Assistant Commissioner General of Enforcement. In these roles, she led MIRA’s enforcement functions, strengthened revenue recovery initiatives, contributed to policy development, and supported institutional reforms aimed at enhancing compliance and taxpayer services.

Throughout her career, Ms. Ameeza has been actively involved in strategic leadership, organizational development, and the modernization of tax administration. She has represented MIRA in high-level engagements with government ministries, international organizations, and development partners, supporting cooperation and the exchange of best practices in tax administration. She also served as MIRA’s Board Secretary from 2015 to 2018.

Ms. Ameeza holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom, and a Master of Science in Accounting from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
