On 29th August 2026, CA Maldives held the IFRS Forum 2026, bringing together accounting and finance professionals, auditors, regulators, academics and aspiring practitioners to explore important developments shaping the future of financial reporting

The forum provided a platform for the participants to gain insights into the practical implementation of new revised International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), with discussions focusing on the transition to IFRS 18 and the revised IFRS for SMEs Standard, both effective from 1 January 2027. The programme also emphasized on the growing importance of sustainability reporting through IFRS S1 and S2, with a focus on the Maldivian context, alongside the role of automation and digital technologies in enhancing financial reporting.

The AIB (Accountants in Business) Registration was officially launched at IFRS Forum 2026 by Chief guest Mr. Mohamed Ahmed of the Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) and President of CA Maldives, Mr, Mohamed Haleem Abdulla.

Accountants in Business (AIB) is a dedicated programme of CA Maldives for accounting and finance professionals working in businesses, organizations and other non-public practice roles. It provides a platform for professionals to connect, share knowledge, strengthen their skills, and contribute to the development of accountancy profession and the wider business community

By convening the IFRS Forum 2026, CA Maldives reaffirmed its commitment to equipping the profession with the knowledge and capabilities needed to navigate emerging reporting requirements, embracing innovation, and contribute to stronger more transparent financial reporting practices in the Maldives.
