Ms. Pyumi Sumanasekara counts over 18 years of experience in audit, assurance and advisory with experience across various industries including financial services, insurance, agriculture, automotives, healthcare, FMCG and conglomerates locally and internationally. She has international experience working in the KPMG London office in the financial services team, and with clients across US, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

She is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCA), an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA) and holds a Masters in Financial Economics from the University of Colombo. She is also certified as a Financial Risk Manager and holds an Executive Certificate in Advancing Sustainability from NYU STERN.

Ms. Pyumi is part of the KPMG’s global Climate Change & Sustainability/ESG network and been in the ESG space and related assurance services for over 16 years. She is the country’s impact champion and was also the partner leading the engagement on the first Integrated Reporting framework assurance, ESG Assurance and SASB Assurance in Sri Lanka. She was also the Engagement Lead for the first pre-issuance assurance on a proposed listed Green Bond to be issued in Sri Lanka.

Ms. Pyumi is involved in ESG Consulting including in developing ESG frameworks and policies, assisting with strategy, reporting related readiness assessments for sustainability reporting, awareness trainings and workshops. Ms. Pyumi has contributed as the resource person for ESG forums and conferences including one conducted by the Stock Exchanges, reporting bodies, professional bodies locally and internationally.

Ms. Pyumi also works extensively with family businesses on governance and succession engagements and has worked with many companies in relation to Board governance and training for Boards. She has been trained with Family Business Professionals of Australia, France and Germany.
