Ibrahim ShabeenChairperson
Mr. Ibrahim Shabeen is currently a Partner at Prudent Chartered LLP. Previously, he worked at Maldives Inland Revenue Authority where he was responsible for supervising and managing tax audit teams as the Manager for Large Taxpayer Audit. With over 12 years of professional experience, Mr. Shabeen has expertise in various fields, including external auditing, taxation, business advisory, ERP implementation, risk management, and internal auditing. He holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, UK, and is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Mr. Shabeen is a council member of CA Maldives. He is also a registered auditor and a former member of the Technical and Standards Committee of CA Maldives. He also chairs the Insolvency Committee of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).
Ahmed AslamVice Chairperson
Mr. Ahmed Aslam is employed as the Director of Strategic Management at Housing Development Corporation (HDC). He is currently heading the Strategic Planning, Research and Development, Quality Management and Risk Management. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in the Finance and real estate industry, specializing in Accounting and Reporting, Auditing, Strategic Planning, Tax and Insurance. Mr. Aslam has immense experience lecturing at different universities and colleges such as Islamic University of Maldives, Villa college and MAPS college. Mr. Aslam holds a Master Degree in Islamic Finance from (INCEIF), Bachelor Degree Accounting and Finance from the University of East London. He is a fellow member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) ACMA, CGMA). Mr. Aslam is also a Senior Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Profession (CIIF). Mr. Aslam has been a member of HDC Shariah Committee since June 2021. Mr. Aslam is also a CA Maldives licensed Auditor, MIRA licensed Tax Agent in Maldives. Mr. Aslam is actively engaged in social and voluntary work. He is a member of MRC and he was a member of Finance Commission of Maldives Red Crescent (MRC) from 2014 to 2019.
Nafa WaheedMember
Ms. Nafa Waheed has over 13 years of experience in the field of taxation and tax auditing. She is currently the Deputy Director General of Medium Taxpayer Audit department at Maldives Inland Revenue Authority. At MIRA, she plays a crucial role in managing the tax audit departments and holds positions on several MIRA committees, including the Audit Committee, Technical Committee, Technical Support to Legal Committee, and HR Committee. Additionally, Ms. Nafa was a member of Admission and Licensing Committee at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Maldives from 2021 to 2024. Ms. Nafa is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Maldives.
Aminath Shuaau MohamedMember
Ms. Aminath Shuaau Mohamed is currently working as a Senior Auditor at the Auditor General’s Office. She joined AGO in 2019 and has experience in Performance Audit as well as Special Audit. She has authored articles in publications within the public sector audit community, such as the ASOSAI Journal and the JTAKEN Journal. She is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) as well as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives.
Mohamed Maiz MunazMember
Mr. Mohamed Maiz Munaz has over 13 years of experience in the field of Accounting and Finance. He currently serves as the Chief Accounts Executive (CAE) at the Ministry of Finance (MoF). He undertakes the overall responsibility of CAE for MoF Budget, Special Budget and Pension Budget as per the Public Finance Act. He is also a member of SAP S4 Hana & SAP ARIBA Implementation Team at MoF and a member of the Hajj Evaluation Committee at Ministry of Islamic affairs. He was appointed as a Non-Executive Board member to SME-Development and Finance Corporation (SDFC) by the government of Maldives on 07th March 2024. Further, Mr. Maaiz was a part-time lecturer for the Financial Management Module ACCA at the MAPS College. Prior to joining the MoF, he had served 11 years at various roles at Maldives Inland Revenue Authority, including the role of Manager- Objections in Legal Service Department and as a Deputy Manager- Large Taxpayer Audit. Mr. Maaiz is a member of Association for Certified Chartered Accountants.
Moosa NabeelMember
Mr. Moosa Nabeel is a Senior Manager in Audit & Assurance at Deloitte Maldives. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, UK) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives). With over 8 years of professional experience, he has managed audit engagements across various industries, including financial services, real estate, construction, consumer goods, and hospitality. He has led group audits requiring international reporting and played a pivotal role in implementing IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 for insurance companies in the Maldives and Sri Lanka. He has authored technical papers on financial instruments and contributed to developing IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) models. Previously, he contributed to tax enforcement initiatives at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
Sulakshan RamananMember
Mr. Sulakshan Ramanan is a Tax Partner at EY, focusing on a wide range of tax services for both Maldivian and offshore clients. His qualifications include being a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) UK, a Fellow Member of Chartered Accountants Maldives, a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) UK. He was also a Licensed Tax Agent (Category 1) with the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) from 2014 to 2022. Mr. Sulakshan joined EY as a Tax Executive in 2013 and became a Partner in 2021. He has worked on various engagements for tourist hotels and resorts in the Maldives, including due diligence, tax structuring, and transfer pricing. He advises clients on the foreign investment application process, setting up investment models, and liaising with government agencies such as the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Tourism to coordinate foreign investment registration. He also comments on the tax and regulatory aspects of inbound investments and assists clients in meeting compliance obligations in the Maldives. Additionally, Mr. Sulakshan has conducted various tax training sessions for resorts, banking and finance companies, the telecommunications sector, SME clients, and has been involved in several tax discussions facilitated by MIRA. He regularly assists clients in resolving audit issues arising from MIRA tax audits.
Mohamed Nibras AhmedMember
Mr. Mohamed Nibras Ahmed is the Director and Head of Audit and Assurance at MHPA LLP. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, UK). He is also a fellow member in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives). Mr. Nibras has accounting and finance experience across various sectors, including wholesale and retail, insurance, and tourism. Since joining MHPA in 2020, he has taken a strong interest in auditing and has led multiple Public Interest Entity (PIE) and SME audits.
Ismail Jailam FuwadMember
Mr. Ismail Jailam Fuwad is the Director of Audit and Assurance at Nexia Maldives, where he oversees financial audits and assurance services for clients across both the private and public sector. In addition to his role at Nexia Maldives, Mr. Jailam is a visiting lecturer at the Maldives National University (MNU). Mr. Jailam is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (FCA) and a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance.
